Why is my prayer not being answered? ›

God doesn't withhold answers to our prayers as a form of punishment for bad behavior. However, he knows when our hearts aren't in the right place (James 4:3). Sometimes, God's apparent silence is really his way of giving us a much-needed heart check when we're praying with the wrong motives.

Jesus taught, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find” (Matthew 7:7). When you are sincerely striving to obey God's commandments, He will give you answers to your prayers, and you will be ready to receive them.

This passage was spoken by God to the prophet Jeremiah during his time of captivity in Babylon. God assured Jeremiah that if he earnestly sought Him through prayer, he would receive God's response and revelations. This verse highlights God's desire for people to genuinely call upon Him, to seek His wisdom and guidance.

Persistent prayer clarifies your request.

A delayed answer gives you time to clarify exactly what you want and to refine your prayers. When you pray persistently to your heavenly Father and you say something over and over again, it separates deep longings from mere whims. It says, “God, I really care about this.”

James 4:3 says, “You ask and do not receive, because you ask with the wrong motives, so that you may spend what you request on your pleasures.” The wrong motives can impact your prayer life in such a way that God doesn't give you what you're asking for, no matter how much you beg.

The more precise we are with our prayers, the quicker the answers will come. That precision will always depend on our knowledge of the will of God. If God hears everything we ask “according to His will” (1 John 5:14), then the key to making a precise prayer and obtaining an immediate answer is to know His will.

Have you found that when you go to pray, all you can do is weep? It's not tears of joy or gratitude but it's tears that stem from a deep inner sorrow. When the pain of brokenness is so great that the only way to articulate praying is through tears of sorrow and grief.

Two of the greatest hindrances to the Christian's prayer life are doubt and unbelief. Doubt is the thief of God's greater blessings. It keeps us in a state of separation from Him. Some people doubt there is a God or doubt He will perform His promises in response to their prayers.

Your prayer may not accepted because it might not be beneficial for you, ie; you don't know ( yet ) but it'll harm you, so Allah didn't grant you that, but Allah will grant you something even better when the right time comes … remember, Allah is the best of planners.

The key, then, is for us to discern how those answers come. We must not judge the Lord, nor should we harden our hearts when seemingly an answer has not come. Instead, we need to trust the Lord and know he is answering our prayers in his own way and by his own means.

You could try journaling your prayers, praying a Psalm or the Lord's Prayer, spending more time listening, walking around while you pray, or praying with other people. Even David—a man after God's own heart—wrote some Psalms crying out to God about why He wasn't answering, so you're not alone if you feel far from God.
