Jefferson City News-Tribune (MO) - Monday, June 23, 2008:

Earl Thomas Fennessey, 88, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at his home. He was born November 7, 1919, in Maries County to Joseph Thomas and Katie Anna Stratman Fennessey He was united in marriage November 7, 1954, in Kansas City, Mo., to Clara Belle Watson who survives at the home.

He graduated from Vienna High School in 1937. He was employed with Maries County Bank until entering the United States Army Air Corps serving in World War II in China-Burma-India region. He was employed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation for 29 years. He then worked for the Secretary of States Office until his retirement in 1983.

He spent much time traveling, fishing, playing cards, watching sporting events, and enjoying his family and grandkids. Earl was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Helias Council 1054, Holy Name Society, and China-Burma-India Veterans Association.

Other survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Dan Sauer, Jefferson City; Rosemary and John Berhorst, Centertown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Linda Fennessey, Jefferson City; Tim and Melinda Fennessey, Jefferson City; and nine grandchildren, Clarissa and Taryn Fennessey; Megan, Daniel, and Seth Fennessey; Katie and Jessie Sauer; and Lee and Brad Berhorst. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lillian Peniston, Marion Javery, Priscilla Byrd; and one brother, A.J. Fennessey.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Visitation Cemetery in Vienna. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1206 E. McCarty St., Jefferson City, Mo., 65101; Helias Foundation, P.O. Box 694, Jefferson City, Mo., 65102-0694; SSM Hospice, 520 Ellis Blvd., Jefferson City, Mo., 65101; or charity of the donor's choice. Those wishing to email condolences to the family may do so at the www.dulletrimble.com website
